World Golf Championships-HSBC Champions Golf Leaderboard and Results- ESPN

Buy Wholesale Clothing,As 78 of the worlds best golfers prepare to play this weeks WGC-HSBC Champions tournament in Shanghai, the PGA Tour has announced that PGA Tour-China, a developmental circuit based in that country, is set to launch in 2018. Much like the other two international developmental tours, PGA Tour-China will offer Web.com Tour memberships to the top-five players on next years money list. And we should expect a continued impact on the games highest level from China. This season, Zecheng Dou and Xinjun Zhang became the first two Chinese golfers to earn full-time PGA Tour cards through a Web.com promotion.

The U.S. Womens Open is going to a historic venue: Pebble Beach. For the first time, the tournament will be played at the California course in 2023, the United States Golf Association announced Tuesday. Pebble Beach is already scheduled to host the 2018 U.S. Amateur and the 2019 U.S. Open. The USGA also announced it had awarded the 2027 U.S. Open to Pebble Beach. Pebble Beach has hosted five U.S. Opens — 1972 (Jack Nicklaus), 1982 (Tom Watson), 1992 (Tom Kite), 2000 (Tiger Woods) and 2010 (Graeme McDowell). The U.S. Womens Open will be contested June 1-4, 2023.

A shot clock will be used at a 2018 European Tour event that will assess a 1-stroke penalty if a player fails to play a stroke within 40 seconds. The Shot Clock Masters in Austria will be played June 7-10. Each player in the 120-player field will have 50 seconds for the first player in a group and 40 seconds for subsequent players. There will be a 1-shot penalty for each bad time, although every player will have the right to call 2 time-outs during a round giving them the right to take double the amount of time for those shots. The European Tour has also instituted other timing rules at other events to try and speed up play.

Bernhard Langer won the PGA Tour Champions first of three playoff events on Sunday, posting eagle on the final hole for yet another achievement in his remarkable post-50 career. He already has an inside track on clinching the circuits money list for a ninth time in the past 10 years. The only time he didnt win it? In 2011, when Tom Lehman edged him out. Thats some amazing consistency for a guy whos seemingly only getting better with age.

Sergio Garcia hadnt won since his Masters victory in April … until Sunday, when he won another Masters — the Andalucia Valderrama Masters. At a tournament that benefits his foundation in his native Spain, Garcia posted a final-round 4-under 67 to nip Joost Luiten by a stroke. The win is his 14th career European Tour title, but this is just the third year since his 1999 breakthrough that hes claimed multiple wins on that circuit.

Marc Leishman won just once in his first 206 career PGA Tour starts. At the CJ Cup @ Nine Bridges on Sunday, he had a chance to win for the third time in his last 19 starts, only to lose in a wild playoff. After pushing his tee shot way right and needing a ruling on the first playoff hole against Justin Thomas, the Australian saved par to advance to a second extra hole. He then found the hazard with his second shot into the par-5 18th, managing only to post bogey for a solo second-place finish. This was the second time hes directly lost to Thomas in as many months; they were tied at the Dell Technologies Championship through 54 holes, but Leishman came up short then, as well.

Justin Thomas won the inaugural CJ Cup @ Nine Bridges on Sunday, just another chapter in his ongoing story of a rapid rise to elite-level status. In the past 13 months, hes played 25 events and won six of them, including his first career major. (And not including both the FedEx Cup and Player of the Year titles.) Prior to the first of those victories, Thomas was ranked a respectable 35th in the world. Now? He moves to third, behind only fellow American stars Dustin Johnson and Jordan Spieth.

Anirban Lahiri entered the final round of the CJ Cup @ Nine Bridges with a chance to claim his first career PGA Tour victory. Instead, the man from India played the final five holes in 4-over, including a final-hole bogey that dropped him into a share of fifth place for the week. Thats a disappointing result considering his place on the leaderboard just 90 minutes earlier, but it still provides an early momentum boost going into the 2018 campaign.

Sergio Garcia hasnt won since first sliding his arms into the sleeves of a green jacket six months ago, but that could change Sunday. He owns a one-stroke lead at the Andalucia Valderrama Masters in his native Spain, an event which is — perhaps not coincidentally — sponsored by the Sergio Garcia Foundation. Hey, he could do a lot worse than only playing his best golf at tournaments with Masters in the title.

Anirban Lahiri owns 18 career worldwide wins, a top-five in a major championship and has been ranked inside the worlds top-50. Sundays final round of the CJ Cup @ Nine Bridges, though, could be a watershed moment for Indias best current golfer. Thanks to a third-round 3-under 69, Lahiri finds himself in a share of third place, just two strokes behind the shared lead of Justin Thomas and Scott Brown. Still seeking his first career PGA Tour win, this one would give Lahiri not only plenty of intangible momentum heading into 2018, but exemptions into major championships and WGCs that would only help advance his career moving forward.

Through three rounds, theres a tie atop the CJ Cup @ Nine Bridges leaderboard — and its between two players seeking very different end games. Justin Thomas is looking to continue the momentum from a 2016-17 campaign that yielded five victories and the Player of the Year award, while Scott Brown is searching for just his second overall title and certainly one which would help define his career. Theyre two shots clear of the next-closest competitors in South Korea.

Justin Thomas won five tournaments, claimed his first major championship, took the FedEx Cup title and earned Player of the Year honors during the 2016-17 season. Just in case you — somehow — thought that was some sort of strange fluke, he opened with a first-round 9-under 63 at the CJ Cup @ Nine Bridges, just an extension of that brilliant play hed displayed in the previous campaign. Thomas posted two eagles and seven birdies against two bogeys to grab the early lead in South Korea.

Phil Mickelson is on the auction block. OK, so its a round of golf with the five-time major-winning lefty, but its going to cost you. In an effort to raise funds for Operation Healing Forces, Mickelson is offering a round for you and two friends at his home course in Rancho Santa Fe, Calif. The estimated value of the round is a mere $250,000. The good news? The current bid is a bargain at just $100,000. The bad news? Theres still two weeks left to bid.

USA Ryder Cup 2018 captain Jim Furyk talks about facing the European crowd and the current situation of Tiger Woods.

Ryder Cup captains Jim Furyk and Thomas Bjorn met in France on Tuesday for a press conference one year before next years festivities. They each hit golf balls off the Eiffel Tower, but it wasnt all fun and games. When Furyk, serving as the U.S. skipper for the first time next year, was asked about his teams failure to win on European soil since 1993, he explained, We have 25 years of scars to overcome. … Europe has handled those away matches far better in the last 25 years than we have. We might have to take a page from their book and try to figure it out.

Apparently, the CJ in this weeks inaugural CJ Cup @ Nine Bridges must stand for Cash Junket. The first PGA Tour event to be held in South Korea will feature the second-largest non-major/WGC purse of 2017, with $9.25 million in prize money allocated for the no-cut field and $1.6 million to the winner. Perhaps then its no surprise that big names such as Justin Thomas, Jason Day, Adam Scott and Patrick Reed have all made the trip.

Not a bad view! Ahead of next years Ryder Cup, team captains Thomas Bjorn and Jim Furyk tee off from the Eiffel Tower in Paris. Bjorn posted this photo on his twitter account.

Just a few weeks ago, Tiger Woods said never playing competitive golf again was definitely a possibility. Never, though, has he wavered in his insistence that hed at least attempt to make another comeback. As reported by my colleague Bob Harig, Woods has been cleared to start practicing toward that return. If he contends in majors or surges into the upper echelon in the world ranking, all of that can be considered a surprise, based on individual opinions about his future. But the fact that hes now practicing and inching his way toward a comeback shouldnt qualify as surprising news.

While Tiger Woods has been cleared by his doctor to pursue golf however he sees fit, his agent Mark Steinberg made it clear that the 14-time major champion will not rush. Woods posted video as recently as Sunday of him hitting a driver, a good sign. But there is no talk yet of a competitive return. He will take it day by day, week by week, Steinberg said.

It is but one swing, not enough to draw any conclusions. How much can Tiger Woods practice and for how long? Those are bigger questions not yet answered. But he was hitting a driver, which is significant in his comeback. And while the swing speed might be less than desired, given what Woods has been through, that might be a good thing.

At this time last year, Pat Perez was 40 years old, a one-time PGA Tour winner, ranked outside the worlds top 300 and fresh off shoulder surgery. With his convincing four-stroke victory at the CIMB Classic, Perez is now a 41-year-old with three wins and a ranking inside the top-20 — and that shoulder surgery just might have been the career motivation he needed.

With his victory Sunday at the CIMB Classic, Pat Perez should crack the top 20 in the Official World Golf Ranking. Thats remarkable considering a year ago, after finishing T-33 at this same tournament, he was 333rd in the world. The top 10 is still a ways off, but after a meteoric rise like the past 12 months, who could say that it wont happen for the 41-year-old American?

Cameron Smiths first career PGA Tour victory came as part of a team event, pairing with Jonas Blixt to win the Zurich Classic this past season. Now the 24-year-old Australian is trying to win one as an individual. Smith opened with a sparkling 8-under 64 at the CIMB Classic in Malaysia, taking a one-stroke lead over three others. He might seem young by usual standards, but Smith is the same age as superstars Jordan Spieth and Justin Thomas, the latter of which just happens to be the two-time defending champion of this tournament.

Reigning rookie of the year Xander Schauffele got off to a solid start in his second PGA Tour season by shooting an opening-round 65 at the CIMB Classic on Thursday in Malaysia to stand one-shot behind leader Cameron Smith. Schauffele, who won the Tour Championship in his last start three weeks ago, played the TPC Kuala Lumpur without a bogey. Defending champion Justin Thomas opened with a 2-under-par 70 and is six strokes back.
